Steven B. Mays Sr. Announces Reelection Bid for Pine Bluff City Council Fourth Ward

Fourth Ward Pine Bluff City Council Member Steven B. Mays Sr. has announced his candidacy for reelection.

Mays, a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a degree in business administration, said he enjoys serving the city and the residents of the 4th Ward, according to a news release.

First elected in 2010, Mays has served more than three terms in office.

“I love public service, and I love helping others in our great city of Pine Bluff, Arkansas,” Mays said. “I want to continue the job I started as your council member. I still have a vision for the growth and development of the 4th Ward. We have a lot of work to do together to rebuild, repair, and restore our city. Let’s finish what we started.”

Mays highlighted several accomplishments during his tenure, including:

  1. Implementing the “Fix It Now” plan of action.

  2. Supporting the restoration of University Drive.

  3. Supporting the Pine Bluff police, fire, emergency services, and other city departments.

  4. Supporting the restoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park and the Coretta Scott King Center.

  5. Serving as past president and board member of the Family Community Development Corp., while remaining active in the Pine Bluff community.

  6. Creating a platform to assist senior citizens and veterans in need.

  7. Supporting the Dollarway School District.

  8. Supporting and collaborating with youth programs.

  9. Supporting the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s administration, students, and staff.

  10. Working with Neighborhood Watch programs.

  11. Supporting improvements to city streets and neighborhoods.

  12. Supporting West Side Neighborhood Improvement Projects in the Loop area.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me during my time as your 4th Ward alderman and senior council member,” Mays said. “Let’s finish what we started. There is still much work for us to do together in our great city.”
