The Sheridan School District is preparing to ask voters to extend a millage that has helped address the district’s critical needs. Superintendent Chad Pitts recently spoke with Deltaplex News about what he and the district hope to accomplish.
Pitts said the current rate is 36 mills and explained what the extension would cover if approved.
He went on to explain what could be accomplished with a pavilion on campus.
Much of the online discussion about the millage has come from citizens in the East End community, part of the Sheridan School District, who have expressed interest in having a high school built there. Pitts addressed what it would take to make that happen.
The 2025–26 school year is underway for the Sheridan School District, and Pitts said the district accomplished a great deal over the summer to build on its past successes.
Pitts also told Deltaplex News that Mike Moore is no longer the head baseball coach or employed by the district. Former Sheridan softball coach Eddie Paul Woodall has been named interim head baseball coach for the 2026 season.
