The Sheridan School District issued a warning to parents of a phone scam taking place within the district.
The district says that someone is calling parents identifying themselves as a school employee, stating they must pay a fee to attend graduation.
The message from the district is shared below:
SHS families: It has come to our attention that someone identifying themselves as a school employee may be calling parents and telling them, falsely, that they must pay a fee to attend their child’s graduation. If you receive a call of this nature, please know it is a scam. Graduates purchase caps and gowns in advance, but there is NOT a fee for those in attendance. If you receive one of these calls, please do not provide any personal information, hang up immediately, and contact local law enforcement.
