The keynote address was delivered by Pastor Jalen Phillips, superintendent of the Upper Room Pentecostal Church of God in Christ and a UAPB alumnus. Phillips encouraged graduates to remain focused on their goals, embrace lifelong learning, and lead with purpose in their careers and communities.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Dr. Mirza Shahjahan and Theodis “Ted” Davis for their longstanding dedication to education and student success. Reflections shared during the program acknowledged the lasting impact both men have made on generations of students within the School of Business and Management.

Graduates were recognized across multiple disciplines, including accounting, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, management, business analytics and hospitality management. Among those earning Master of Business Administration degrees in business analytics were Zahraa Badrani, Ryan Gillings, Cynthia E. Sims and Terion Smith. Leonard Williams received recognition for completing the MBA program in hospitality management.

The banquet’s theme, “Achieving Excellence Through Education,” reflected UAPB’s commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers, graduate education and community leadership. The program also highlighted the university’s student value statement, which focuses on expanding access to higher education, maintaining affordability, supporting student completion, and creating pathways to long-term earnings and wealth generation.

As the graduates move forward into the workforce, advanced study, and service opportunities, the School of Business and Management continues its mission of developing leaders equipped to contribute to their professions, communities, and society.

The 2026 Graduates Banquet served as a celebration of academic achievement and a reflection of UAPB’s ongoing commitment to student success.
