The Arkansas Department of Transportation will begin a road improvement project next week that is expected to impact travel in the Fordyce and Princeton areas, according to a press release from the Fordyce Police Department.

Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday and will include repaving and widening North Edgar Street from West 4th Street in Fordyce to Highway 9 in Princeton.

Officials said motorists should expect lane closures, reduced speeds and possible delays while the project is underway. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, remain alert for workers and equipment, and allow extra travel time when passing through the area.

Authorities said the improvements are designed to enhance safety and efficiency along the roadway.

The Fordyce Police Department is asking the public to be patient during construction and to help spread awareness about the project to others who may travel through the area.
