District 92 Representative Julie Mayberry has announced she will not seek a sixth term in the Arkansas House of Representatives.

Mayberry, a Republican who represents all of Grant County and portions of Saline County, made the announcement Wednesday morning in a heartfelt social media post. Her decision comes after months of personal reflection, prayer, and discussions with family and close friends.

Originally intending to run again, Mayberry said she reversed course after what she described as a lack of peace following a newspaper report that she would seek reelection.

“A good friend told me to imagine a headline that said, ‘Mayberry Running for Re-election’ and a headline saying, ‘Mayberry Not Running for Re-election,’ and compare my feelings about both statements,” she wrote. “Mid-July, I felt refreshed and encouraged… and ultimately decided to seek re-election. When the decision was printed… on July 18, something didn’t sit right. The peace I expected never came.”

Mayberry has served five terms in the state legislature. Her husband, Andy Mayberry, also served three terms, meaning the couple has collectively represented the area for 16 years.

Reflecting on her time in office, Mayberry described legislative service as rewarding but emotionally and physically taxing.

“A legislative session takes a toll on your mind, body, and spirit,” she said, comparing it to childbirth — painful in the moment, but often worth it in the long run. “Recovery can and does happen,” she added.

She cited the Biblical book of Ecclesiastes and Proverbs 3:5-6 in explaining her decision, emphasizing her faith and belief in divine timing.

“God has blessed me with an amazing opportunity to serve… but moving forward, I know He has new plans which will be revealed to me in His timing,” she said. “My goal is first and foremost to serve Him.”

Mayberry said she plans to spend her remaining 17 months in office continuing to work hard for her constituents. Beyond that, she looks forward to dedicating more time to spiritual growth and family.

“There are 1,440 minutes in a day. It’s time now for me to use those minutes in a different way,” she said. “I intend to spend more time reading my Bible and focusing on God’s truth, rather than the constant noise of the news cycle or social media.”

She ended her statement with gratitude toward those who have supported her and her husband throughout their years of public service.

“Thank you. Your trust, prayers and encouragement have meant far more than words can express,” she said. “I look forward to whatever God has in store for our family.”

Mayberry’s decision opens the door for new candidates to step forward in the race for District 92 as Arkansas prepares for its next election cycle.
