Police Urge Caution During UAPB Homecoming Weekend; Traffic Restrictions Announced

The Pine Bluff Police Department is urging drivers to use patience and caution during the busy University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Homecoming weekend, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the city.

Police say following traffic laws and cooperating with officers will be key to keeping everyone safe during the celebration. More than 140 law enforcement officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and Arkansas State Police will be on patrol throughout the weekend.

Post-Game Traffic Restrictions

Following the UAPB Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 11, which is expected to end around 5:30–6 p.m., all traffic on University Avenue will temporarily be restricted to southbound travel only.

Barricades will be set up at the following intersections:

Front Street and University • Front Street and Ash Street • University and Pullen • Pullen and Ash • Pullen and Willow • Pullen and L.A. Prexy • University and Scull • University and Vaugine • University and Saracen • University and King • University and Bell • University and Reed • University and Fluker • University and Reeker • John Kennedy Drive • University and Watson Boulevard (North and South) • University and Collegiate • University and Oliver • University and McFadden

Southbound traffic on University Avenue will continue to Martha Mitchell Expressway, where vehicles will be directed east or west to help ease congestion.

Homecoming Parade Route

The UAPB Homecoming Parade will begin Saturday morning at 15th Avenue and Main Street. The parade will travel north on Main to 6th Avenue, then turn east toward Convention Center Drive before moving south to the east side of the Pine Bluff Convention Center, where it will disperse.

Parade lineup begins at 8 a.m., and barricades will be placed at 15th and Main starting at 9:30 a.m.

Barrels and barricades will also be placed at the following intersections:

14th and Main • 13th and Main • 12th and Main • Martin and Main • 11th and Main • 10th and Main (East and West) • 9th and Main • 8th and Main • 6th and Main • 6th and State • 6th and Alabama • 6th and Georgia • 6th and Convention Center • 5th and Convention Center • 8th and Convention Center • 10th and 11th at Convention Center • 10th and State

Additionally, Pine, Chestnut, and Walnut streets between Olive and Main will be blocked with barricades and tape during the parade.

The Pine Bluff Police Department encourages residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and remain alert to officers directing traffic throughout the weekend.
