With the new year underway, preparations are ramping up for the Black Pilots of America’s annual return to Pine Bluff for Operation Skyhook at Grider Field.
One of the key figures helping organize the event is Pine Bluff native Ken Johnson. Johnson spoke with Deltaplex News about Operation Skyhook 2026, saying planning is already underway for this year’s event.
Johnson said he has not heard anyone specifically say they plan to come to Pine Bluff because of the Saracen Casino Resort’s new hotel and event center, but noted that history shows pilots are often drawn to cities with more hotels and casino amenities.
Johnson added that other events also help draw visitors to Grider Field, along with the Grider Field Restaurant, which has built a strong reputation over the years.
