A two-vehicle accident in rural Saline County Tuesday resulted in the death of a Pine Bluff teenager and injuries to three other people.

According to a preliminary report, Jamiyah Devose-Croom, 19, was a passenger in a 2022 Hyundai Elantra that was southbound on Interstate 530 at the 10-mile marker when the vehicle was hit from behind by a second vehicle which then fled the scene.

The Hyundai left the roadway and struck a tree and Devose-Croom was ejected from the car.

The driver of the Hyundai, Josephine Lee, 37, of Pine Bluff and two other passengers, Jakrya Burns, 18, of Pine Bluff and a minor were all injured and taken to Little Rock hospitals.

According to the report, the accident occurred at 3:32 p.m. and the death was the 214th so far this year on the state’s highways.
