A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole who was arrested after police found a gun in the vehicle the man was in.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Benjamin Scott, 57, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said Scott has a previous conviction for a violent felony and also for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reed said just after midnight Friday, police conducted a traffic stop at 2nd Avenue and Blake Street on a vehicle for a faulty registration.

Scott was told to come back to court Feb. 9.
