A Pine Bluff Police Department officer is recovering after being injured during a high-speed pursuit on Saturday, Aug. 9.
According to police, the officer — whose name has not been released — attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the driver fled. The chase led to the intersection of Hutchinson Street and Dollarway Road, where the suspect made a sharp, high-speed turn. The officer followed but swerved into a telephone pole, resulting in a totaled patrol vehicle.
The officer was treated for minor injuries at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and has since been released to recover at home.
Investigators said the suspect’s vehicle has been recovered, but the suspect remains at large. The Pine Bluff Police Department said additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
