A $2,500 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man previously convicted of theft allegations after he was arrested with stolen merchandise in his possession.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Clinton Clayton, 63, with second offense theft of property.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said on April 2 at 7:55 p.m., police were sent to Super 1 Foods at 2800 S. Hazel St., in response to a shoplifting complaint.
Alexander said Clayton has more than four prior felony convictions. He was told to come back to court May 20.
