A 24-year-old Pine Bluff man who was arrested in connection with a homicide will be held without bond while prosecutors prepare formal charges against him.
Following a court hearing Wednesday, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge Vernon McCraney with one count of capital murder, one count of first-degree battery, two counts of committing a terroristic act and one count of aggravated robbery.
During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Jim Williams said on March 10, Pine Bluff Police were sent to Port Road in response to a report of gunshots in the area.
Keundrea McLemore, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.
That other victim, who the affidavit did not identify, said he and two other individuals met up with two people he knew and inquired about buying marijuana.
He said they were approached by McLemore and a second man later identified as McCraney who demanded their money
Police showed the victims photo lineups and all three positively identified McLemore and McCraney as the individuals who attempted to rob them.
McCraney was ordered to have no contact with the victims and was told to come back to court May 1.
