A $25,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of hitting and choking his wife during an altercation.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge William Reed, 32, with aggravated assault on a family or household member, false imprisonment and third-degree domestic battery.

Reading from an affidavit by Pine Bluff Police Lt. Derick Neal, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said Tuesday afternoon, police were sent to a residence on Faucett Road in response to a reported domestic disturbance.

Spradlin went on to describe the injuries to the victim and tell the court what Reed said when he was questioned.

Reed was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Aug. 15.
