A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of punching a police officer in the face Sunday.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Edwin Bennett, 34, with second-degree battery.
The hearing was held without Bennett being in the courtroom and Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said the allegation is based on an affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Detective Ryan Edwards.
Bennett was ordered to come back to court Sept. 22.
