Pine Bluff Man Accused of Machete Assault on Girlfriend Held on Five Thousand Dollar Bond

A $5,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of threatening his girlfriend and injuring her with a machete during an altercation Tuesday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Floyd Bush, 71, with aggravated assault on a family o household member and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jesse Horton, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said at 12:39 a.m. police responded to a reported armed disturbance involving a man with a machete.

When Bush was questioned, he admitted to having been drinking but said he was not intoxicated. He denied threatening to kill the victim and said he had the machete to cut bushes.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court April 17.
