Compton explained that providing EMS services is critical to ensuring Pine Bluff residents receive timely, life-saving medical care during emergencies.

He also outlined a major goal for the department over the next year, focusing on continued growth, improved services, and strengthening resources to better serve the community.

The Arkansas EMT Association’s Department of the Year award is presented annually to an agency that demonstrates exceptional service, leadership, and a strong commitment to emergency medical care across the state. The honor was awarded to the department following the retirement of Chief Shauwn Howell, who announced his retirement in April.
