When Pine Bluff School District Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree started to make the rounds of schools in the district Monday, her first visit was to the Oak Park/Greenville campus which now houses both Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Barbaree talked about what she found there when she appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.

She said the district has made some upgrades to the building itself, added a new sidewalk and brought in dirt to fill some low places on the playground that formerly held a lot of water.

Asked if she knew how many students will be in the district, Barbaree said it was a little early to know how many they will have, particularly since the district started so early. She said they used to use Labor Day as an indicator of how many students a district will have.

Morning Show host Greg Horne said “that’s the whole reason behind this (year-found calendar),” because kids don’t have as much time to forget everything they learned and teachers have to start over.
