The Pine Bluff City Council Public Works Committee on Monday recommended that Mayor Vivian Flowers sign a contract with the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County to operate recreational and educational programs at the Pine Bluff Community Center for a five-year period.
The initial contract called for three years but Council Member William Fells said that Tavante Calhoun, the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club, was asking for five years and Calhoun explained the request.
Although she is not a member of the committee, Council Member Lanette Frazier was present and said this.
According to the performance contract, the city will pay the Boys and Girls Club a total of $120,350 annually which will be divided up into four equal installments of $30,087.50 quarterly after reporting, insuring and complying with all requirements are satisfied.
Mayor Flowers said she was good with the five years and went on to talk about possible future uses for the Boys and Girls Club.
