UPDATE: Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley has informed Deltaplex News that the pilot killed in Friday’s crop duster crash has been identified as 41-year-old Bryan Holland of Greenville, Mississippi.
ORIGINAL STORY: A crop duster crashed near Swan Lake on Friday evening, leaving the pilot dead, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
At approximately 6:18 p.m., the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association (MECA) received a call reporting the crash. Emergency responders, including JCSO deputies, Ambulance Services, Arkansas State Police, and fire rescue crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders located the wreckage of the aircraft and confirmed the pilot was deceased at the scene. Authorities have not released the pilot’s name, pending notification of next of kin. Officials confirmed that the pilot was the only person aboard, and no injuries occurred on the ground.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will lead the inquiry into the incident and provide any future updates.
