Update: Police ID Victim Following Vehicle-Pedestrian Accident in Pine Bluff

UPDATE: The Pine Bluff Police Department has identified the victim killed in Thursday night’s accident as 60-year-old Charles Durden of Pine Bluff.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred late Thursday night at the intersection of West 15th Avenue and South Cherry Street.

According to the Pine Bluff Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:44 p.m. on November 6 after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive Black male lying in the roadway. Police began performing life-saving measures until emergency personnel from EASI Ambulance Service Inc. arrived and took over.

A witness told investigators that the victim — whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin — was walking westbound on West 15th Avenue and crossing South Cherry Street when he was hit by a passenger vehicle traveling south on Cherry Street.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The victim was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
