State officials are investigating the death of a male inmate at the Cummins Unit of the Arkansas Division of Correction, authorities confirmed.
The inmate was pronounced dead Sunday, Dec. 28, at the facility located in Gould. Specific details surrounding the circumstances of the death have not been released.
Rand Champion, chief of communications for the Arkansas Division of Correction, said the agency’s Internal Affairs Division is reviewing the incident. Champion added that there is no indication of foul play at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
