A Monticello man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a jury conviction for the sexual assault of a minor child, according to information released by law enforcement.
The Monticello Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, working in coordination with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division, conducted an investigation in January 2025 that led to criminal charges against Derrick Jackson Sr., 34, of Monticello.
The case was presented on Jan. 6, 2026, by the Tenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to a Drew County jury in the courtroom of Judge Crews Puryear. After hearing the evidence and deliberating, the jury found Jackson guilty of sexual assault.
Jackson was sentenced to 15 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Court records also show Jackson had previously faced charges in a separate case. In May 2024, he was arrested by the Monticello Police Department Criminal Investigation Division on a charge of attempted sexual indecency with a child. In March 2025, Jackson entered a guilty plea to that charge.
Law enforcement officials said the Monticello Police Department and its partner agencies remain committed to investigating and prosecuting crimes involving the exploitation and abuse of children.
