At its recent meeting, the Monticello City Council approved a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign a contract for architectural services to renovate the old fire station at City Hall.
According to the Advance Montcellonian newspaper, Michael Rogers who is with MR Designs, an architectural firm from El Dorado listed the next steps in the project, which included fully documenting the building, reviewing needs with city officials, developing bid documents with an engineering firm, then moving the project through a public bid process.
He said his firm would provide construction administration services to he4lp ensure that the work delivered matches the approved plans and scope.
Mayor Jason Akers was quoted as saying that the city wants to “preserve the building’s character rather than simply put some drywall up and paint everything.
