Current Lincoln County Judge Buddy Lynn Earnest is headed to a runoff election against challenger John Powell following Tuesday night’s final results.
Earnest received 559 votes, while Powell finished with 430. Third candidate Dan Woddard received 263 votes.
Earnest told Deltaplex News he fully expected the race to move to a runoff.
He said many of those who voted against him Tuesday likely did so because of concerns over county road issues.
Earnest said he will continue his campaign in hopes of reaching more voters ahead of the runoff.
