Lincoln County is now under a burn ban following an order issued this morning by County Judge Buddy Lynn Earnest.
He told Deltaplex News he waited till today but kept a close eye on the conditions
The decision comes as a precautionary measure due to a lack of recent rainfall and increasingly dry conditions across the region. The ban applies to all outdoor burning, including within the cities of Star City, Grady, and Gould.
Earnest is urging residents to comply with the order to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The ban will remain in effect until conditions improve and it is deemed safe to lift.
