No bond was set Friday for a Lewisville man accused of capital murder and aggravated assault.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set no bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 23-year-old Vonkavious Briggs with 2 counts of Capital Murder and 1 count of aggravated assault.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jesse Horton, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said on May 7th around 9pm, Pine Bluff officers responded to a call from the Shell Station on Blake St about a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found 2 individuals lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
1 victim was pronounced dead at the scene and officers attempted to administer first aid to the other victim, but ultimately the victim was pronounced deceased.
During the investigation, multiple handguns were recovered.
Police made contact with an unidentified black female witness on scene.
She recounts one victim was speaking to the other, while said other victim was sitting in their silver SUV prior to the shooting.
They exchanged gunfire before the Silver SUV fled eastbound on 2nd St after being struck.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelly responded to the scene and officially pronounced 1 of the victims deceased before the officer located the silver SUV.
The SUV was eventually located near west 2nd. Briggs was apprehended and taken into custody for questioning. All witnesses and victims were also questioned.
Briggs has no prior criminal history and was ordered to return to court.
