The Sheridan Police Department and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office will participate in a statewide traffic enforcement initiative from Wednesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 5.

During the enforcement period, officers will conduct highly visible patrols with an emphasis on identifying and addressing driving while intoxicated (DWI) violations. Law enforcement officers will also be monitoring for speeding, seat belt violations and distracted driving offenses.

Officials said the increased enforcement effort is intended to improve roadway safety and reduce the number of traffic accidents during the holiday travel period.
