The Leola City Council has appointed Virginia Harrison as Interim Mayor, following the resignation of former Mayor William Woodson in December.
According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Harrison will serve the remainder of Woodson’s term.
She said she plans to look at the city’s financial standing, address ongoing water and sewer system issues to prevent overnight repair calls for employees, and look at resident’s concerns about stray dogs.
Improving the appearance of the city, particularly along Main Street and making the town more attractive to businesses looking to locate to the area are also on her to-do list.
She said she would like to start a citywide cleanup and increase the use of social media to inform residents of what the city is doing.
Tne City Council meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Leola City Halk.
