A juvenile was taken into custody Tuesday morning after police responded to a report of a masked individual possibly firing a weapon near a local school.
According to the Stuttgart Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:07 a.m. to the area near St. John’s School after receiving a report of a male subject wearing a ski mask and possibly shooting.
An officer located the individual about a minute later and quickly detained the suspect. Authorities determined the firearm in question was a fake cap gun.
Police said the individual, identified as a juvenile, was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported, and officials confirmed that all individuals in the area were safe.
Authorities noted that incidents near schools can cause heightened concern and credited officers for their swift response, along with the cooperation of the community.
