The Sheridan City Council voted Monday night to appoint Justin Wise as its newest member following an executive session meeting.
Wise was selected from a field of eight applicants who submitted resumes for consideration. He will fill the position left void when former Council Member Marion Lynn Camp announced his retirement.
Wise spoke with Deltaplex News to share why he decided to throw his name in the hat.
Justin is the son of former Sheridan Mayor Joe Wise, who served as Mayor for over 30 years. Wise said that public service is something he was raised to do.
His appointment fills the vacant seat on the council and will last for the next 14 months, after which he will have the opportunity to run to succeed himself if he chooses.
Wise is no stranger to local politics. He previously ran unsuccessfully for mayor in the last election against current Mayor Cain Nattin.
