Judge Stephen Shirron Announces Re-election Bid for Circuit Judge in 7th Judicial District

Judge Stephen Shirron, who has served as Division 2 Circuit Judge for the 7th Judicial District since 2021, has announced he will run for re-election in the March 3, 2026, election. The district covers Grant and Hot Spring counties.

A lifelong Sheridan resident and graduate of Sheridan High School, Shirron has spent much of his career in public service. Before being elected to the bench, he worked as Prosecuting Attorney for the district from 2013 to 2014 and later served as Chief Deputy Prosecutor from 2015 to 2020. In that role, he handled high-profile cases, supervised thousands of felony prosecutions, and tried more than 40 jury trials.

Since taking office, Shirron has presided over cases in criminal, civil, domestic relations, juvenile, and probate court. He has also overseen facility improvements and technology upgrades in the district and has chaired several statewide judicial committees. He currently leads the Arkansas Judicial Council’s Bar Liaison Committee and serves on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Security and Emergency Preparedness.

Shirron said he is focused on ensuring the court system remains fair and accessible.

“As your Circuit Judge, I am, and will continue to be, committed to upholding justice and serving our community with integrity,” he said. “It’s the honor of my lifetime to serve in this position, and as I seek re-election, my plan is to continue this important work.”

Shirron’s family has long ties to public service. His grandfather was a Grant County sheriff, his father served as a circuit judge, and his mother is a retired teacher. Shirron and his wife, Helen, live in Sheridan with their two daughters. The family is active in Grace Church and involved in several civic and community organizations.
