Jefferson County Treasurer Vonysha Goodwin Seeks Fourth Term

Jefferson County Treasurer Vonysha Goodwin has announced her candidacy for a fourth term, highlighting nearly three decades of experience in county government and a continued commitment to financial transparency and public service.

Goodwin, who has worked in the treasurer’s office since 1999, first served as deputy treasurer before being elected to lead the office in 2016. She officially took office in January 2017.

“Eight years ago, I promised the people of Jefferson County that I would manage the county’s finances with accuracy, transparency, and accountability,” Goodwin said in a statement. “I have kept that promise, and I respectfully seek your support for another term.”

A graduate of Dollarway High School, Goodwin earned a Bachelor of Science in business marketing with a concentration in finance from the University of Phoenix in 2009. In 2025, she completed a Master of Science in computer science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She is also an alumna of Leadership Pine Bluff and the Edward L. Coleman Leadership Institute.

Throughout her tenure, Goodwin has overseen the financial operations of the county, ensuring the responsible management and reporting of public funds. She credited the trust and support of Jefferson County residents as the driving force behind her continued dedication to public service.

Outside the treasurer’s office, Goodwin remains active in the community. She volunteers with various local organizations and serves in leadership roles with several nonprofits. She sits on the boards of the Lighthouse Charter School, the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County, and the D’Andre Seals Outreach Project, where she also serves as chief financial officer. Additionally, she is secretary for First Sisters Outreach.

Goodwin is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter, where she currently serves as vice president. She is also affiliated with the NAACP, the Arkansas Treasurer’s Association, the Association of Arkansas Counties, the Jefferson County Democratic Women, and the Democratic Central Committee.
