The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active shooter drill at the Jefferson County Courthouse according to Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr.
“Our agency is conducting an active shooter drill for the entire circuit courthouse,” Woods, Jr. told Deltaplex News. “The drill is to test evacuation procedures in response to an active shooter, test internal communications between departments, and to ensure employees follow guidelines established in the Courthouse’s Emergency Plan.”
Citizens are urged to understand that any commotion seen around the courthouse is a part of today’s drill.
