The Jefferson County Quorum Court will meet Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse with several funding and budget ordinances on the agenda, including measures coming through committee and others added by supersponsorship.

Following routine reports from the treasurer, committees and constitutional officers, justices of the peace are scheduled to take up multiple ordinances under new business.

Two of the items were advanced through committee.

One ordinance would reallocate $172,463.60 in salary funds within the county’s road department budget while eliminating four vacant positions. The changes would provide salary adjustments for existing employees while reducing the number of open payroll slots.

Another ordinance would reappropriate $31,002.44 in unspent FEMA funds for the Office of Emergency Management. The funds would be used for general supplies, parts and repairs, and machinery and equipment.

In addition to the committee items, three ordinances are being added through supersponsorship.

One ordinance, on second reading, would amend the 2026 budget for the sheriff’s 3525 GVI/GRIP grant, reducing the appropriation by $8,766.49 after lower-than-expected expenditures in 2025.

Another ordinance would appropriate $28,227 in unspent 2025 grant funds for the Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center. The funds would be used for salaries, supplies, equipment, training and retention bonuses and would remain available through July 31, 2026.

The final ordinance would provide a supplemental appropriation for the county’s emergency vehicle fund. The sheriff’s office is requesting an additional $13,039.51 after the original 2026 budget left the fund below its proposed level. If approved, the fund would increase to $49,231.23.

The final supersponsored ordinance would provide a $13,039.51 supplemental appropriation to the sheriff’s emergency vehicle fund, increasing the total to $49,231.23.
