The Jefferson County Quorum Court is set to address a series of financial transfers and routine business items during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening at the courthouse.

The meeting, outlined in the agenda packet, will begin at 5:30 p.m. inside the Dr. Vernon Johnson Quorum Courtroom and will follow a standard order of business before moving into several appropriation ordinances involving county funds.

The first item under new business is an appropriation ordinance to transfer funds from Reappraisal Amendment 79 to the County General Reappraisal Fund.

Details show the ordinance would authorize the transfer of $21,000 from Amendment 79 funds into the county general reappraisal account. The measure grants the county judge authority to approve the distribution, while directing the county treasurer to complete the transfer.

Supporting documentation includes a letter from Jefferson County Assessor Gloria Tillman, who requested the transfer to replace a 2013 Ford Edge used in reappraisal operations. The vehicle is also used for homestead verification.

The second ordinance would transfer $2,646.38 from the Circuit Court Juvenile Division Fund 3031 to Fund 1809 for fines and truancy-related computer services.

The measure authorizes both the county judge and treasurer to approve and execute the transfer.

Additional context is provided through a letter from Circuit Judge Ernest E. Brown Jr., who requested the funding shift to support computer services tied to juvenile court operations.

The third ordinance calls for a $5,000 transfer from Reappraisal Amendment 79 funds into the County General Reappraisal Fund for advertising and publishing expenses.

This includes a letter from Assessor Gloria Tillman requesting the transfer to cover those specific costs.

As with the first ordinance, the county judge would be authorized to approve the distribution, and the county treasurer would execute the transfer. Sponsorship details are listed on page 10.

The final ordinance under new business involves multiple internal transfers between reappraisal and assessor-related funds.

The proposal would:

  • Transfer $3,000 from Reappraisal Fund 1000-119-2002 for small equipment
  • Transfer $2,000 from the Assessor Late Fee Fund 3042 to the Assessor Fund 1000-105-2002 for small equipment

The ordinance also authorizes the county judge to approve the distribution and directs the county treasurer to complete both transfers.
