Another scheduled meeting of the Jefferson County Quorum Court ended in frustration Tuesday night as a lack of attendance once again brought local government operations to a standstill.
Only four Justices—Ted Hardin, Conley Byrd, Margarette Williams, and Patricia Royal-Johnson—were present, far short of the quorum required to conduct official business. County Judge Gerald Robinson was also absent, citing attendance at a conference for County Judges.
The continued issues among the Justices has sparked outrage among citizens, with social media lighting up Tuesday night in response to yet another unproductive session. Many residents voiced frustration over what they see as a growing pattern of dysfunction and defiance by members of the Quorum Court.
Justice Ted Hardin, one of the few in attendance, did not hide his frustration.
He shared what some of those issues are.
When asked if any legal recourse could be taken due to proper procedures not being followed when it comes to paying unapproved raises Hardin responded with this:
Hardin concluded by saying there is one other obstacle holding things up on the Quorum Court.
