Members of the Jefferson County Quorum Court Committee will meet Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse to consider several appropriation ordinances involving budget adjustments, legal expenses and road department staffing.
According to the agenda, the meeting will include reports from the Human Resources Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee.
Among the items scheduled for consideration is an ordinance to transfer approximately $3,151 within the county’s general fund for buildings and grounds. The adjustment is intended to address negative budget line items by reallocating funds from improvements to cover expenses such as clothing, uniforms and materials.
Committee members are also expected to review a proposal to create a new budget line item within the county judge’s office for legal expenses. The ordinance would allocate $75,000 to cover attorney fees, including payments to multiple law firms currently providing services to the county.
In addition, the committee will consider an ordinance related to the Jefferson County Road Department that would reallocate approximately $172,463 in salary funds. The proposal includes adjusting pay for existing employees, eliminating four vacant positions and redistributing funds across remaining payroll positions. The changes would be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026, if approved.
The ordinances are expected to be discussed and potentially advanced to the full quorum court for final consideration.
