A $10,000 bond was set Monday for a Jefferson County man on a drug related allegation.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Ernest Cones, 45, with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.
Reading from an affidavit by White Hall Police Investigator Charles Treadway, Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter said on Feb. 28, a White Hall Police Officer was patrolling on Dollarway Road at Timberlane when he saw a white Nissan and a check of the license plate number returned to a Ford Crown Victoria and was expired.
Cones provided his real name and date of birth to officers, and they learned he had multiple arrest warrants.
Hunter said Cones is on parole following a conviction in 2023 and has four or more prior felony convictions. He was told to come back to court April 15.
