Jefferson County Judge Calls Special Quorum Court Meeting to Address Road Fund Appropriation

Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson has called a special meeting of the Quorum Court for Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. to consider an appropriation request for county road funding.

According to documents submitted to the Quorum Court, the Jefferson County Road Department is seeking approval to transfer $250,000 from the County Wholesale Fuel Tax Fund (2003) to the County Road Fund (2000). The money would be used to cover lease purchase payments on road equipment.

The appropriation ordinance, labeled Appropriation Ordinance No. 2025-___, authorizes the County Judge to transfer and distribute the funds. Of the total, $177,177.49 would be applied to lease purchase principal, while $72,822.51 would cover lease purchase interest.

In a letter dated August 19, 2025, Road Department Director Rickey Bullard and Office Manager Sandra Graves formally requested the appropriation, stressing the need for the funds to be allocated for ongoing road department obligations.
