Authorities in Jefferson County, Arkansas arrested 37-year-old Demario Blueford on April 30, 2026. Blueford was wanted on an absconding warrant issued by the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Tri-County Drug Task Force officers stopped Blueford during a traffic operation. While taking him into custody, they found marijuana and $30,710 in cash. Investigators then searched Blueford’s home. There, they recovered plastic bags, digital scales, and other items commonly used in drug distribution.
Law enforcement seized all items believed to be connected to illegal drug activity. The $30,710 in cash was also seized under Arkansas state law, which allows authorities to take assets suspected to come from crime.
Sergeant Mike Garlington stated that taking this money out of circulation helps disrupt the financial networks that support drug trafficking in the area.
After his arrest, authorities transferred Blueford to the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr. said this arrest shows the ongoing commitment of the Tri-County Drug Task Force to pursue those involved in drug crimes and hold them accountable.
The investigation is still active. Officials expect to file additional charges. How do you think these seizures affect drug operations in your community? Do you believe asset forfeiture laws help reduce illegal activity?
