As talks continue between Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation and the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County, Pine Bluff City Council member Ivan Whitfield raised several questions during a listening meeting conducted by Parks and Rec earlier this month.

On Friday, Nyeshia Aldridge, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys and Girls Club and Sam Glover, Parks and Recreation Director appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show and were asked about Whitfield’s concerns, specifically a fee that the Boys and Girls Club currently charges.

The two were also asked about transportation.

Glover said currently, the Community Center opens at 9 a.m., while kids are in school, and activities for adults take place until about 2:30. Also discussed were plans for the summer. He said the Boys and Girls Club program time would double, or maybe triple and other activities would take place as well. Also in the planning stage are programs for what Glover called “high teens” ages 16 to 19.
