Highway 83 north of Monticello is scheduled to close around the clock from 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, through 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 25.
Weather permitting, the closure will allow crews to replace two existing bridges with box culverts. Highway 83 will remain open to local traffic only on either side of the closure.
A signed detour will be in place. To reach the north side of the closure, traffic will take Highway 278 east to Highway 138, Highway 138 east to Highway 293, Highway 293 north to Highway 277, then Highway 277 north back to Highway 83. To reach the south side of the closure, traffic will take Highway 277 south to Highway 293, Highway 293 south to Highway 138, Highway 138 west to Highway 278, then Highway 278 west back to Highway 83.
Construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place to notify motorists of the closure.
