Greg Moody has announced his candidacy for Jefferson County Justice of the Peace for District 10, setting up a challenge to incumbent Dr. Conley Byrd, who currently holds the seat.

Moody, a longtime public servant, said his decision to run is rooted in a desire to bring what he describes as honest leadership, open communication and accountability to county government.

“Public service has been my life’s work, guided by my faith and a strong belief in doing what is right,” Moody said in a statement announcing his campaign. “Jefferson County deserves honest leadership, open communication, and real accountability. It is time for a change that puts people first.”

Moody brings a diverse background in law enforcement, emergency services and business leadership. He is a former police sergeant with the White Hall Police Department and currently serves as an auxiliary deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. He is also a licensed emergency medical technician.

In addition to his public safety roles, Moody serves as chief operating officer of Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc., where he said he has focused on accountability, transparency and responsible leadership.

“I see every day how important those values are in serving our community,” Moody said. “They are the same principles I would bring to the Quorum Court.”

Moody said he is seeking to offer voters an alternative vision for the role and pledged to be accessible and responsive if elected.

“I would be honored to earn your support and your vote,” Moody said.
