Two millage proposals on the ballot in Grant County Tuesday night were approved by voters.
The first measure—an extension of the current debt service millage rate for an additional nine years—passed with 894 votes for and 259 against. The extension will help fund a new pavilion on campus as well as a new elementary school in East End.
Sheridan School District Superintendent Chad Pitts spoke with Deltaplex News before the vote to explain the purpose and impact of the millage.
He went on to explain what could be accomplished with a pavilion on campus.
The other millage on the ballot would fund renovations and improvements within the Parks and Recreation Department.
Sheridan Mayor Cain Nattin commented on the low voter turnout for the special election.
The millage will give the City of Sheridan $5 Million to work with. Nattin shared what the money will be used for.
Nattin also explained when the City of Sheridan is expecting to receive the funding.
