Former Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington Named Arkansas Municipal League Field Representative

The Arkansas Municipal League announced Wednesday that former Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington has been appointed as its newest Field Representative.

Washington, who also previously served as League District 4 Vice President, will now work directly with cities and towns across the state, assisting local leaders with municipal issues and promoting community development.

In a press release, the League praised Washington’s career in public service. “We’re thrilled to welcome former Pine Bluff Mayor and League District 4 Vice President Shirley Washington as our newest Field Representative at the Arkansas Municipal League! Her leadership and dedication to public service continue to inspire communities across our state,” the statement read.

Washington served as mayor of Pine Bluff from 2017 to 2024, where she focused on economic development, infrastructure improvements, and community revitalization.

Her new role with the Arkansas Municipal League will allow her to continue serving municipalities by providing guidance, resources, and advocacy at the state level.
