One person was killed in an early morning residential fire Friday in Pine Bluff.
According to Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services, crews were dispatched at 4:38 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, to a structure fire at a home located at 1501 S. Nebraska St. Firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 4:44 a.m. and found the residence fully involved, with heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof.
Officials said a resident at the scene informed firefighters that one individual was still inside the home. Crews immediately began fire suppression efforts while simultaneously conducting a search and rescue operation.
A 79-year-old man was located in a rear bedroom of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to injuries sustained in the fire.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley has identified the victim as Malvin Jones.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
