The National Weather Service in Little Rock has completed its tornado damage survey and confirmed that an E-F1 tornado touched down near Thornton in Calhoun County traveling northeast of Kingsland in Cleveland County on Wednesday morning.
According to survey findings, the tornado produced peak winds of 105 mph and carved a 14.7-mile-long path through the three counties. The twister reached a maximum width of approximately two football fields at its widest point.
The tornado developed southwest of Kingsland near Thornton, tracking between there and a portion of Dallas County, and the Saline River near Prairie Road northeast of Kingsland in Cleveland County, leaving a clearly defined damage path consistent with EF1 intensity on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
This marks the second confirmed tornado in Arkansas this year.
No major injuries were immediately reported. Cleanup efforts are ongoing in the affected areas.
