A Dumas man has been arrested on multiple charges following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving minors, according to a press release issued April 14.
The investigation began March 10, when Criminal Investigator Sgt. Alan Hernandez was contacted by the mother of a teenage girl. The mother reported that her daughter had recently disclosed being sexually abused by a family member approximately six to 10 years earlier.
During an interview with the teenager, investigators learned there could be additional victims connected to the same suspect.
Sgt. Hernandez, along with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division, launched a joint investigation. Authorities conducted forensic interviews with each alleged victim through the state’s Crimes Against Children Division.
Following the interviews, investigators determined probable cause existed to seek an arrest warrant.
On April 3, the Desha County Criminal Investigation Division arrested 63-year-old Gonzalo Sanchez of Dumas. He has been charged with two counts of rape of a minor by a family member or guardian and two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
Sanchez was booked into custody and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
