A broken-down tractor-trailer in Dumas led to a drug arrest Wednesday, August 6, 2025, after police discovered a Schedule I controlled substance inside the vehicle.
According to the Dumas Police Department, officers responded to the disabled truck near the intersection of U.S. Highways 65 and 165. While speaking with the driver, officers noticed he appeared nervous and evasive when answering questions.
The Desha County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team was called to assist. Deputy Austin Freeman and K-9 Yoshi conducted a walk-around of the vehicle, and Yoshi alerted to the presence of drugs in the cab. A subsequent probable cause search uncovered approximately 50 grams of Kratom, which is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance in Arkansas.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Abdikadir Abdi Dubat of Minnesota, was arrested and taken to the Dumas City Jail, where he was booked on a charge of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
The 10th District Drug Task Force is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
